TERM 01 HIGHLIGHTS

In term one, students are introduced to the fundamentals of drawing and painting, thinking on paper, understanding 3 dimensional representation on a flat surface, and the all-important principles of drawing in perspective. Fundamental drawing techniques, such as drawing through and wire-framing are approached, as well as thumbnailing and workflow techniques. Light and form are paramount to accurate and believable representation, as well as studying both organic and industrial design subjects in-depth. Students are also introduced to Ideation, Iteration and Design Presentation Principles, for deeper use in Term 03.

TERM 02 HIGHLIGHTS

In term two, students will get to grips with in-depth human anatomy, more complex industrial design and advanced character and organics design. This term introduces students to colour and mood, advanced light principles, and advanced drawing and painting techniques, bringing their theoretical knowledge and practical application to greater levels. A strong focus on emotive and expressive character drawing, as well as more technical vehicle and structural design skills are taught. Later in the term, stylization and advanced digital techniques are covered.

TERM 03 HIGHLIGHTS

Term 03 introduces students to Entertainment Design Projects, and is the start of the LSE (Live Studio Environment), where students are briefed, and work on three separate Entertainment Design Projects. Each EDP project simulates real-world entertainment media, such as films, games and animated features, and covers multiple genres including science-fiction, fantasy, and hybridized genres. This term sees the students apply their learned skills from Term 01 and Term 02 in more advanced and creative ways, and sets a solid foundation for the portfolio work to come in Term 04. Advanced digital workflows and techniques are covered.

TERM 04 HIGHLIGHTS

The most creative and workload intensive term, Term 04 sees the introduction of Portfolio Development, where students spend up to 10 weeks of class studio time developing and refining their final portfolios. Portfolio Development is built on the strong foundations of reviewed Portfolio Guides, tailoring student portfolios to their desired career goals. During this time the intricacies of production pipelines in the entertainment industry are covered, as well as career development and guidance. Networking, marketing, freelancing and full-time studio industry work are looked at in-depth.
